Work with an AmpedUp! Site Assessment Engineer
An AmpedUp! Site Assessment Engineer (SAE) will help you determine your charging station (EVSE) needs including the number of units, charging power per unit, and required electrical service. They will recommend appropriate AmpedUp! Inside EVSEs that satisfy your requirements.

Purchase and Install Qualified AmpedUp! Inside EVSEs
An AmpedUp! installation specialist will inform and guide you through applicable utility, state, and federal EV charger incentive programs so you can maximize your purchase price. They will assist you in the EVSE installation process every step of the way by working with your electrician, site preparation contractor, network engineer, and city inspector with any questions that may surface.

Q:
How many charging stations do we need?
A:
An AmpedUp! Site Assessment Engineer (SAE) will help you determine the number of needed chargers and their specifications based on several criteria including number of parking spaces available, number of occupied spaces, number of anticipated EVs, average duration parked, available electrical service, charging speed of chargers, budget, and other criteria.
Q:
How long does it take to install the charging stations?
A:
A charging station can be installed in as little a 2 weeks or as long as 3 months. It depends on a multitude of criteria including number of charging station units, site preparation requirements, new or pre-existing electrical service, contractor scheduling, permits and inspection schedules, and other criteria.
Q:
Will the charging stations work with any EV?
A:
Yes, all electric vehicles support standard charging station connectors either natively or with an adaptor. There are 3 main competing charging station plugs available which include J1772 (16-43kW charge rate), CHAdeMO (63-400kW charge rate), and CCS (175kW charge rate). The higher the charge rate the faster the charging.
Q:
What if we have more electric vehicles in need of charging than there are charging stations?
A:
The AmpedUp! Charging Station Management System (CSMS) has a feature called "Waitlist". This feature allows someone waiting to charge their vehicle to be notified via the AmpedUp! Mobile App when a station becomes available.
Q:
Does it matter when EVs use the charging stations?
A:
In many cases, yes. In many areas around the country, electric utility rates rise or fall during certain times of the day due to differing energy demands during that period. The AmpedUp! CSMS allows you to either disable charging during high rate periods, or apply a different pricing policy that corresponds with the utility rates during that same period.
Q:
What if a charging station fails to function?
A:
The AmpedUp! CSMS will notify both AmpedUp! staff and the property manager if a unit goes off-line. The system will also inform the recipient the probable reason for failure such as power or communication connectivity disruptions so that the proper technician can be dispatched.
Q:
About how much does it cost to install a charging station?
A:
A charging station installation includes many variables including site preparation, electrical installation, charging station equipment, permits, and other factors. In general, installation costs per charging station can range from $1,200 to $35,000.
Q:
Are there any federal, state, city. or utility company EV charger installation incentive programs in my area?
A:
It is likely there is some sort of grant, tax credit, utility program, or other incentive available for your location. An AmpedUp! Installation Specialist will assist you in determining what's available in your area and will assist in applying to any that are applicable.
