If the unit is equipped with a cellular modem, you'll need to install a compatible 3G/4G SIM card and activate it to connect the EVCC to the Internet. The cellular modem included with the EVCC supports all major US cellular carriers.
Instructions on how to install the SIM card are described in the following section.
There are some requirements to connect the EVCC to the Internet via cellular:
You'll need a Standard Size SIM card from a major US cellular carrier such as Sprint, T-Mobile, AT&T, or Verizon or a sub-carrier such as Tracfone (Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile and Sprint), Mint-Mobile (T-Mobile and AT&T), Cricket, etc.
The EVCC will use only the data portion of the carrier's service plan. The recommended data plan is 500mb/mo or more.
You will need the IMEI number to activate the SIM card. This is provided on the top of the EVCC cellular modem (you will see it after opening the EVCC front cover).
Be sure the carrier has a strong signal in the area you intend to install the EVCC. Most carrier websites have a tool that allows you to test if the service is available in your area.
Note: Cellular carrier fees are independent of any other AmpedUp! Networks subscription fees.
Follow These Steps
Follow the steps below to connect the EVCC to the Internet via the cellular modem. Prior to performing the steps below, be sure to activate the SIM card according to the instructions provided by the SIM card carrier. If the SIM card is not activated, the EVCC will not be able to connect to the Internet via the cellular modem.
1
Remove the 4 screws of the front cover of the EVCC using a Philips-head screwdriver to expose the cellular modem component.
2
Unscrew the small Philips-head screw of the modem's SIM card cover to expose the dual SIM card slots (1 and 2)
3
Insert the Activated SIM card into Slot 1 of the modem. Be sure to insert the card in the proper orientation according to the displayed image. Once inserted, reinstall the modems SIM card cover.
4
The next step is to insert the modem's Ethernet cable in the Ethernet port. Be sure the cable is inserted all the way into the port.
The EVCC should now be connected to the Internet. This is indicated by the Signal LED on the modem.
You can now reinstall the EVCC front cover.
Note: If the signal is strong, the Signal LED indicator on the modem will flash green. A weaker signal will flash orange.
5
The last step is to ensure the device is connected to the Internet. To do so, return to the CSO app and view the list of chargers under the Chargers navigation option. The status indicator for the newly installed EVCC should display green.
Note: It may take a minute or two for the status to change. You will need to leave the Charger list and return to refresh the screen to update the charger status.
